WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team was unable to secure a win on the road in the Eagles' regular season finale, falling to Palm Beach Atlantic (5-4-1, 4-5-1) 2-1 at the Rinker Athletic Complex on Wednesday. The Eagles scored first but were unable to sustain the lead moving to 7-7 overall and 5-5 in the Sunshine State Conference.

"First of all, I want to credit Chris and his team," ERAU Head Coach
Samantha Bohon stated. "We let up and they punished us. There is no way that at this point in the season with so much on the line that we should give up one much less two goals in the last 14 minutes of the game. We have lacked that consistent sense of urgency this season and it cost us big-time tonight. We had numerous chances to put a second and third goal in and didn't capitalize. So, it cost us in the end. It's a hard lesson to learn."

The first half saw the Blue and Gold lead 6-4 in shots, 5-1 in shots on goal and 2-1 in corner kicks. The Eagles were able to capitalize on one of those shot opportunities in the 31st minute, when
Eva Jonsdottir ran on to a ball played out to the right side of the field by
Saba Amiri. Jonsdottir saved the ball from going out over the end line and sent a low ball into the box.
Emmie Johansson, standing in front of the goal, faked a touch that allowed the ball to travel to the other side of the box where Amiri had continued her run and the freshman deposited her second goal of the year into the side netting to put the Eagles up 1-0.

The Eagles maintained the one-goal lead until the 76th minute when Karina WIlliams netted an unassisted goal for the Sailfish on the counterattack.

The equalizer seemed to bolster the home team's confidence and with just over two and a half minutes left in regulation, Kylee Rubio tallied her fourth goal of the season to secure the win for the Sailfish.

The Eagles' postseason fate will be decided later this week following the conclusion of the league's regular season schedule.
