DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team had its final tune-up for the 2018-19 season on Thursday evening, using a barrage of three-balls to blow past Webber International, 103-86. The Eagles connected on 18 triples, including 11 in the second half, while shooting over 51 percent from the field to overcome a significant free throw discrepancy and move past the visiting Warriors.

Nashad Mackey had a huge game for the Blue and Gold, scoring a game-high 26 points to go along with eight assists and seven rebounds. 16 of Mackey's points came in the second half, including four three-pointers.

It was a sign of things to come when Mackey started the game's scoring with a triple off an Elijah Jenkins' pass, and Jenkins followed with another three to make it 6-4 at the 17:29 mark. The two teams played evenly for the first seven minutes of the contest, with the visitors taking a 20-17 lead on a Garrett Woodmansee three with 12:14 to go. The Eagles answered with a 15-0 run to turn a three-point deficit into a 12-point lead, capped by a Tylin Lockett-Fuller three with nine minutes to play as the Eagles enjoyed a 32-20 advantage.

ERAU went up as many as 14 later in the half, but WIU was able to get it down to a nine-point Embry-Riddle advantage at the break, 47-38. Mackey and Cj Henagan paced ERAU with 10 points each in the opening half, with Woodmansee scoring 11 for the Warriors.

Henagan opened the second period with a triple after sitting much of the first half with foul trouble. After a WIU three to answer, Luka Majstorovic converted an old fashioned three-point play to put the Eagles up a dozen. Over the next few minutes, the visitors chipped away, going on a 12-3 run to trim their deficit to just three at 56-53 when Kevin Grace connected from long range.

Nick Heard's three at the 15:57 mark made it 64-57 Embry-Riddle, and after a WIU turnover, Lockett-Fuller buried another three to push the lead back to double-digits. However, the cushion didn't last long as Webber International responded with seven straight points, including four consecutive free throws to once again make it a one-possession game at 69-66 with 13:19 to play.

The next five minutes decided the game for the hosts as Embry-Riddle went on a 19-4 run, starting with a Joshua Hawkins three and followed by a huge tip-in from Chris Murray on the Eagles' next possession. Jenkins, Hawkins and Mackey went back-to-back-to-back from deep before Mackey capped the big spurt with a fastbreak tip-in for an 87-70 lead.

WIU would get no closer than 12 the rest of the way as the Eagles went on to the 17-point win.

ERAU finished with 27 assists on 38 made field goals, led by Mackey's and Jenkins' eight assists each. Joining Mackey in double-figure scoring were Hawkins (17), Majstorovic (13), Henagan (13) an Lockett-Fuller (12) with Majstorovic finishing with a 13-point, 15-rebound double-double.

The Eagles get Steve Ridder's 30th season underway officially on Friday, Nov. 2 in Anaheim, California as they take part in the D2CCA TipOff Classic against Concordia (Calif.) ERAU follows with games against Azusa Pacific and Lindenwood on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4, respectively.
