ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle softball team are competing in the South/Southeast Region Crossover hosted by Flagler College this weekend. Game one of the three game slate saw the Eagles going up against the seventh ranked North Georgia Nighthawks. It was a hard fought, but the Blue and Gold would fall 1-0 due to a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth. This would be the first loss of the year for the Eagles; dropping to 2-1 while North Georgia improves to 8-0.

Even though the Eagles out hit North Georgia 8-2, Embry-Riddle was unable to bring anyone around to score, leaving 13 runners on base. In the first inning
Maggie Scott,
Mackie Chandler, and
Kailah Rain singled to lead things off. However, the next three hitters proceeded to strikeout ending the inning.

The Blue and Gold would have another opportunity to score in the top of the third. Chandler reached on an error, Rain singled to left advancing Chandler to second. A
Katy Thompson sacrifice bunt advanced Chandler to third and Rain to second. Unfortunately, the Eagles could not capitalize and left both runners stranded.

ERAU and the Nighthawks played even all the way until the ninth inning. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, North Georgia's Hobby Gregory hit and RBI walk-off single to left, giving the Nighthawks the win 1-0.

IIona Andringa started the game on Friday evening. She pitched extremely well but picked up the loss in the contest. Andringa went eight and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on two hits, along with eight strikeouts. Scott, Chandler, and Rain each picked up two hits in the game.
Destiny Carroll and
Lisa Hop picked up the other two hits for the Eagles.

The Eagles continue play at the South/Southeast Region Crossover tomorrow, as the Blue and Gold will go up against Flagler College and West Alabama. First pitch of game one tomorrow is set to for 12 p.m., with game two slated for 2 p.m.
