Kinder Leads @ERAUMLax to Program’s First Win

ROME, Ga. – The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team earned the first win in program history on Tuesday afternoon. On the road for their third straight game, the Eagles defeated Shorter 13-5 at the Hawks' Ben Brady Field. With the win, the Eagles improve to 1-5, while the Hawks fall to 1-8 on the year.

Carlos Kinder matched his best scoring performance of the season, pacing the Eagles with four goals, while Jerry Wilson and Mario Cartisano split time in goal, registering six and four saves, respectively.

Kinder netted the Eagles' first goal of the game at the 13:26 mark on one of five extra-man opportunities for the Blue and Gold. Goals came in quick succession for the Eagles who opened up a 3-0 advantage in the first five minutes of action.

Shorter scored on both of their first two shots on goal to make it a 4-2 game at the end of the first quarter, but Wilson turned back all three Hawks' shots on goal in the second to keep the home team off the scoreboard. Kinder scored once and Joey Santella scored twice for the Eagles in the second frame, and at the half, ERAU led 7-2.

ERAU extended the lead to 10-4 in the third, and despite recording eight turnovers, the Eagles outscored the Hawks 3-1 in the final period to secure the win.

Jordan Coates and Chase Rogers each tallied two goals for Shorter, while netminder Richard Ticer went the distance in goal, collecting 11 saves.

The Eagles will play their first Sunshine State Conference game on Saturday when they travel to West Palm Beach to take on Palm Beach Atlantic at 3 p.m.
