@ERAUMLax Comes Up Short at Palm Beach Atlantic

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – In a battle of first-year programs competing in both schools' first-ever Sunshine State Conference game, the Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team came up short at Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, dropping the game by a score of 11-5. The Eagles fall to 1-6 on the year, while the Sailfish move to 4-6.

The Blue and Gold got off to a slow start, falling behind 3-0 after the first quarter of play. The PBA lead swelled to 6-0 with 5:39 to play in the first half, but the Eagles got on the board thanks to a Henry Huot goal just 15 seconds later. Carlos Kinder notched ERAU's second tally of the game with 2:43 on the clock, and the Eagles closed out the half down 7-2.

Alex Ruiz scored just over three minutes into the third quarter to cut the deficit to 7-3, but the Sailfish quickly answered to make it 8-3. Both offenses went quiet for the final 10 minutes of the quarter, with PBA maintaining its 8-3 advantage going to the fourth. In the final quarter, the Sailfish scored three times before Jacob Saccal and Ruiz registered late goals, accounting for the 11-5 final score.

Ruiz recorded two goals and an assist, while Saccal had a goal and four ground balls and Kinder scored a goal and picked up three ground balls.

The Eagles are back in action next Saturday, March 24, as they travel to 14th-ranked Saint Leo for a 1 p.m. matchup.
