DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 loss to NAIA No. 3 Keiser, Wednesday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The Eagles are now 5-6 on the year, while the Seahawks improve to 15-1.
The Seahawks earned wins in all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles. Juliana Heino and Aleksandra Grela scored the first point with an 8-0 win over Sabrina Ehrenfort and
Georgina Wood on court one, followed by an 8-2 win by Lorene Foerste and Emma Henriksen over
Lydia Carter and Roberta Krvajica on court three. The match at No. 1 doubles between ERAU's
Kathryn Bock and
Maria Turrillo and Keiser's Daniela Farfan and Megane Bianco was close early, but the KU pair pulled away and won 8-4.
The Seahawks got their first singles point when second-ranked Bianco topped Krvajica 6-2, 6-1 at the second spot, and 27
th-ranked Grela scored the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ehrenfort on court four.
Turrillo dropped the first set to eighth-ranked Farfan 6-3, but rebounded to win the second 6-1, and the third 10-8 for the Eagles' first point of the day. Wood was next off the court and she earned ERAU's second point with her 6-0, 7-5 defeat of No. 17 Heino at the third spot.
ERAU returns to action on March 21, hosting Webber International at the Crotty Tennis Complex. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
