Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

@ERAUWLax Suffers Road Loss to Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – McKenzie Jackson and Gillian Greenberg record a hat trick apiece, but it wasn't enough to push the Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team past Young Harris on the road on Saturday. The Eagles fell to the Mountain Lions, 21-8, to move to 5-4 on the year, while Young Harris improves to 6-4 with the win.

The Mountain Lions took control of the game early, racing out to a 9-0 lead in the first 12 minutes of the contest. Young Harris' Mary Deatrick scored twice in the first three minutes, while Hayley Bartlett recorded a hat trick during the run.

Mya Watson broke up the home team's scoring spurt with the Eagles' first goal at the 18:11 mark, but the Mountain Lions widened the gap with four more goals over the next nine minutes. The Eagles were able to outscore Young Harris 3-1 in the final eight minutes of the half, but at the intermission the Mountain Lion lead was 14-4.

The scoring margin was closer in the second half as the Eagles tallied for goals to the Mountain Lions' seven. Young Harris opened the scoring with three unanswered goals, but once again, the Eagles had the better of the offense in the closing minutes of the game, besting Young Harris 3-1 late, including a pair of scores by Greenberg.

On the day, both sides were even in ground balls (13-13) and free position shots (6-6). Young Harris won the draw 17-13 and topped the Blue and Gold in shots (33-28). Greenberg led all players with 10 shots, while Deatrick finished with a game-high five goals and an assist.

The Eagles will be back in Georgia on Thursday when they travel to Franklin Springs for a 3 p.m. game against Emmanuel College.
