MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's golf team maintained its 11th-place position after the final round on Tuesday at the Barry Invitational. The Eagles shot a 316 in the third round to finish with a 933 (308-309-316), placing the Blue and Gold ahead of three top-50 teams: No. 26 Southwest Oklahoma State, No. 30 Tampa, and No. 47 California State – East Bay.
Daniela Pena carded a 230 (76-72-82) for the tournament to finish tied for 39th, while
Kelly Harris had the low score for the Eagles on Tuesday with a 75, giving her a 54-hole total of 232 (77-80-75).
Natalie Brooks finished with a 236 (79-80-77), while
Megan Pollenz had a 240 (76-77-87) and
Lauren Thielen posted a 253 (86-85-82). Playing as an individual,
Camila Sierra shot a 260 (90-83-87).
"The course played even harder today, and we dug in and adjusted," Head Coach
Maria Lopez said. "All of our players had to fight to adjust to the howling winds and zippy greens. I'm very pleased with the strides we are making as a team."
No. 1 Nova Southeastern won the tournament by 12 strokes with a 54-hole total of 873 (293-289-291). No. 3 Dallas Baptist (290-293-302) and No. 2 Indianapolis (294-291-300) tied for second with 885s.
NSU had the top two individuals as well, with No. 24 Sophie Madden earning the top spot with a two-under 214 (70-74-70) and No. 4 Jamie Freedman taking second with a one-under 215 (74-68-73). CSU – East Bay's Carolin Chang, ranked No. 62, placed third with a two-over 218 (75-72-71).
The Eagles are off until the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, which will take place April 15-17 in Boca Raton.
