DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Playing a top-ten team for the second consecutive game, the Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team found itself on the losing end, falling to No. 9 Tampa by a score of 18-4 on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles fell to 1-8, 0-3 in conference with the loss, while the Spartans improved to 9-2, 1-1 in the SSC.
Tampa got off to a quick start, running out to an 8-1 lead after one quarter of play. Kyle Dalrymple opened the scoring in the second quarter, but UT answered with two more goals to take a 10-2 lead before halftime.
The Spartans scored the first four goals of the third quarter before Dalrymple tallied his second of the contest to make it 14-3. In the fourth, Alex Ruiz found the net for the second time in the game, but Tampa tacked on four more tallies for an 18-4 win.
Dalrymple and Ruiz each had a pair of goals and Dalrymple also picked up three ground balls. Ryan Manning had a team-high six ground balls and also tallied an assist, while Michael Forte led the team with three caused turnovers. Jerry Wilson faced 32 shots and made 14 saves in goal.
The Eagles are back in action next Saturday, April 7, when they host Lynn at 7 p.m.
