DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team suffered a 17-5 defeat at the hands of Lynn on Saturday, dropping the Eagles' record to 1-9, 0-4 in SSC play. The Fighting Knights improved to 8-4 overall and 1-3 in conference games with the win.

The game started 90 minutes late due to a series of weather delays that plagued the women's lacrosse game earlier in the day and continued during the warmup period for the men's game. Once the teams took the field, Lynn opened the game on a 5-0 run, keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard until the very last seconds of the first quarter when Ian Heggblod put home a rocket from 30 yards out to make it a 5-1 game after 15 minutes of play.

The second quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with teams trading three goals each in the first 10 minutes. After Alex Ruiz scored with 4:18 to play to cut the deficit to 8-5, LU responded with three goals in the final 3:33 of the half to extend its lead to 11-5.

After a third quarter that was scoreless until the Fighting Knights scored in the final two seconds, the fourth quarter was all Lynn as the visitors scored five more goals while holding ERAU scoreless to run away with a 17-5 victory.

Five different Eagles notched a goal, including Kyle Dalrymple, Jacob Saccal, Carlos Kinder, Heggblod, and Ruiz. Michael Forte led the team with five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers and Ryan Manning won a team-high four faceoffs. Mario Cartisano took the loss in goal but made 12 saves on 29 shots, easily eclipsing his career high.

Embry-Riddle will travel to Melbourne on Wednesday, April 11, for a 4 p.m. game at No. 16 Florida Tech.
