@ERAUBaseball Beats NAIA No. 16 Keiser in Extras, 8-7

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Kyle Marsh crossed home on Cole Habig's walk-off double in the 10th inning to cap a back-and-forth, extra-inning victory for the Embry-Riddle baseball team on Wednesday night as they downed NAIA No. 16 Keisier, 8-7. The Eagles (12-25) collected their fourth walk-off win of the season thanks to a big offensive day from the top of their lineup, snapping the Seahawks (31-15) five-game winning streak.

Habig jumped on the first pitch he saw from KU closer Chris Graffeo after Marsh started the 10th with a single before moving to third on a fly out from Luis Olivier. Graffeo fell behind Zach Howard 2-0 and the Seahawks decided to intentionally walk the Eagle slugger in front of Habig who bounced back from an 0-for-4 start to his day by doubling to right center, plating Marsh for the winning run.

The Eagles needed Habig's heroics because the visitors got their own clutch hit in the ninth when Anfernee Torruella extended the game with a two-out single to right, bringing in the tying run for the Seahawks.

The game featured several wild momentum swings, starting with the Eagles taking an early 2-0 lead in the first on three straight hits from Jake Malone, Marsh and Olivier.

J.C. Carrell, who drew the start for the Blue and Gold, kept the Seahawks off the board in his only two frames, but KU was able to get to Nick Dearing in the third, scoring twice to tie the game before grabbing the lead with a three-run fourth against Troy Naab. Matthew Russell got the Eagles out of the fourth and tossed a scoreless fifth, but the Eagles couldn't seem to get the hit they needed with men on base, going four straight innings without touching home after their two-run first.

After Keiser extended its lead to 6-2 in the top of the sixth, the home team put together a huge two-out rally in the bottom of the inning to tie things up. Cody Bogart started the frame with a double, but after two quick outs, the Eagles were threatening to once again come up empty with men on base. Guttveg had other plans, tripling to center to score Bogart before coming home himself on Malone's base hit up the middle. Marsh walked before Olivier singled through the left side to bring ERAU without a run, 6-5. Howard got a fortuitous bounce at third as the ball squirted down the left field line to plate Marsh and tie the game at 6-6 on Howard's double.

Dominic Jeancola threw a perfect seventh and the Eagles capitalized on their momentum in the home-half of the frame when Bogart again doubled to open the inning, moving to third on Peter Gomez's sacrifice bunt before Guttveg brought him in with a single to right, giving the Eagles a 7-6 advantage.

Jeancola worked around a hit batter and two-out single in the eighth, but the Eagles wasted an opportunity in their next at-bat as Marsh was thrown out at home on a squeeze bunt attempt, cutting down an important insurance run before the Seahawks were able to tie it in the ninth.

Marsh finished 4-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored to go along with two walks and a pair of stolen bases, while Guttveg, Malone and Olivier all finished 3-for-6, combining for five RBIs and three runs. Aidan Brady (1-6) got his first win of the season by striking out the side in the top of the 10th.

ERAU travels to Boca Raton for a three-game Sunshine State Conference set at Lynn this weekend, starting with a 3 p.m. game on Friday, April 20 before a 12 p.m. game on Saturday and 12 p.m. finale on Sunday.
