@ERAUMBasketball Explodes from Deep in 102-68 Road Blowout of Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team snapped a five-game skid on Wednesday night, easily handling Florida Tech, 102-68 at the Panthers' Clemente Center. The Eagles (9-11, 2-7 SSC) made 18 three-pointers, their most in a single game in more than two years (fourth-most all-time), while shooting 64.9 percent from the floor (37-for-57) to crack the top-10 single-game field goal percentages in program history. ERAU limited the Panthers (7-9, 1-7 SSC) to just 42 percent from the floor and only 4-for-26 from deep (15.4 percent), while dominating the glass (35-22) and assisting (22-8) battles.

The first bucket of the game proved to be a sign of things to come as Alston Jones hit a three off a feed from Nashad Mackey. Jones, who finished with 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting, made his second trey of the night at the 15:06 mark, pushing the Eagle lead to 11-6.

Five of the Eagles' first six made field goals were triples, the fifth, an Elijah Jenkins' make from beyond the arc, extended the Blue and Gold lead to 17-8, and a few moments later Tylin Lockett-Fuller made it 22-10 with another Eagle triple.

Florida Tech got to within eight points at 22-14, but the Eagles grew the lead back to double-digits on a Jones jumper and got it out to as many as 17 when Nick Heard canned a three from a Jones pass with 6:43 left in the opening period.

Jones capped the first half with a runner in the paint to make it 45-31 Embry-Riddle heading into the break.

The second half was once again dominated by the visitors. The closest FIT got was a dozen (46-35) just over 90 seconds into the half, but Luka Majstorovic answered with a three-pointer to push the advantage back to 15 and the Eagles never looked back, cruising to the 34-point victory.

Majstorovic finished the night with 22 points, including a trio of triples, to lead the way for ERAU. Jones went for 19 points and five assists, while Mackey had 12 points, eight boards and three helpers. Lockett-Fuller scored 11 points, grabbed six rebounds, had three assists and recorded four steals. Majstorovic, Jones, Lockett-Fuller and Jenkins all made three treys each, while Heard and Cj Henagan each made a pair.

ERAU will look for its first Sunshine State Conference home win on Saturday when it hosts Eckerd at 6 p.m. in the ICI Center.
