@ERAUVolleyball Tripped Up at Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle volleyball team lost for just the third time this season on Friday night, dropping a 3-1 decision at Lynn, 25-19, 20-25, 25-18, 25-21. The loss moves ERAU's season record to 14-3 overall and 7-3 in conference, while Lynn goes to 17-4 overall and 8-2 in SSC play.

Amelia Hartnett and Jordan Schumacher led the Blue and Gold with 11 kills each. Hartnett added a career-high five blocks and Schumacher picked up 14 digs for her eighth double-double of the year. Olivia Roa collected a team-high 20 digs, Alyssa Rudd racked up a team-high 38 assists, and Jenna Bishop recorded a match- and career-high 10 blocks.

The first set remained close until the latter stages, as ERAU stayed within four points until the Fighting Knights ended the set on a 7-2 run to pull away for a 25-19 win.

Set two saw Embry-Riddle lead throughout nearly the entire set; the Eagles trailed for just a single point (10-9). A 6-0 spurt turned a 13-12 contest into a 19-12 lead, and the Blue and Gold maintained a comfortable advantage for the remainder of the frame, eventually claiming a 25-20 win to tie the match at a set apiece.

Lynn came out and scored the first three points of the third set, but the Eagles quickly bounced back, taking a 6-5 lead on a Roa service ace. The lead changed hands three more times over the next 14 points until Lynn went on a 7-0 run to open up a 22-14 advantage. From there, the Fighting Knights cruised to a 25-18 win to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

In the fourth set, ERAU used a 5-0 run keyed by a pair of Bishop blocks to take a 14-12 lead. LU came back with a 5-1 run to go ahead, 17-15. The Eagles got to level ground three times before an attack error pushed Embry-Riddle to a 21-20 lead. That would prove to be the last point Embry-Riddle would score as Lynn ended the match scoring the final five points to take the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-1.

The Eagles will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Nova Southeastern for a 4 p.m. match.
