BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's cross country team nearly defended their Sunshine State Conference title on Saturday morning, but the Eagles were edged out by Saint Leo in Boca Raton.
ERAU scored 54 points, behind Saint Leo's 40, to finish second as a team. The Blue and Gold totaled 2:11.43 with an average time of 26:21.
Ryan Szklany finished third overall in 25:41.6 with
Calahan Warren (25:59.8) and
Shaun Bullock (26:03.7) placed seventh and eighth, making the Eagles the only team with three runners in the top eight. Both Szklany and Warren will earn first team All-SSC honors, with Bullock and
Brian Cheluget (26:37.3), who finished 13th, earning seocnd team accolades.
Rounding out the team scorers was
Austin Epstein (27:20.3) in 23rd.
Josh Collins (27:34.8) and
Tanner Rosolino (27:35.5) went 28th and 29th, respectively, followed by
John Dennehy (27:58.9) in 39th,
Drew Hart (28:18.9) in 47th,
Jacob Webster (29:25.8) in 59th,
Shane Brownrigg (29:56.1) in 67th,
Bryce Walker (31:45.5) in 84th andÂ
Charles Hruda (33:20.6) in 89th.
Embry-Riddle will look to defend their NCAA South Region title on Nov. 9 in Lakeland, Florida at the 10K course at Holloway Park.
