Men's Cross Country Heads West, Top Non-NCAA I Finisher at Charles Bowles Invitational

SALEM, Ore. - Personal records fell aplenty for the Embry-Riddle men's cross country team on Saturday at the 45th Charles Bowles Invitational. The Eagles were the top non-NCAA I finisher at the 16-team meet, hosted by Willamette University, placing fourth overall. 

The Eagles' 114 points trailed only Portland (48), Portland State (71) and Eastern Washington (94) in the team standings. ERAU totaled 2:07.41 with an average finish of 25:33. It was the Eagles' eight consecutive regular season meet as the top non-NCAA I finisher.

Calahan Warren had the best race of his collegiate career, finishing as the meet runner-up in 24:49.4, breaking his personal-best time by more than 15 seconds and setting the Eagles' top 8K time in the NCAA II era. Warren becomes the program's seventh-fastest 8K runner thanks to his Saturday effort.

Ryan Szklany (25:00.1) finished 10th, marking the seventh time he registered a top-10 finish in his young career.

Shaun Bullock (25:16.9) came in 16th for the Blue and Gold, followed by Brian Cheluget (26:11.6) in 44th and Austin Epstein (26:22.4) in 50th. Both Chelguet and Epstein shattered their previous 8K records, while Josh Collins (26:26.9) set his best collegiate time by more than two minutes, finishing 54th overall.

John Dennehy (26:42.2), Tanner Rosolino (26:43.6) and Jacob Webster (26:55.5) also set collegiate-best marks in the race with Justin Nauman (27:59.7) also competing for Embry-Riddle.

The Eagles return to the Sunshine State to wrap up the 2019 regular season on Friday when they run in the FSU Invitational in Tallahassee.
