SACRAMENTO, California - Shaun Bullock broke the Embry-Riddle men's cross country 10k program record on Saturday at the NCAA II National Championship. The Eagles' lone representative at the national meet ran a 31:44.9, breaking his own 10K school record set last year at the NCAA II South Regional by nearly 30 seconds.

The Downington, Pennsylvania native ran very wisely, moving up over 130 places over the course of the race. After 2.3K, Bullock was 249th overall at Arcade Creek, but that's when he started to make his move, advancing up to 205th at the 4.2K mark.

At the mid-way point, Bullock had shifted up to 187th overall and then with a quarter of the race remaining he was all the way up to 130th. The Eagle junior would move past eight more runners over the final 2.4K, eventually finishing in 121st overall.

Bullock now owns three of the top-10 10K times in Blue and Gold history, including the top two. Even more impressive was Bullock shaving off six minutes from his time at last year's NCAA II National Championship race.

"Today was a perfect day to run on a great course," Head Coach Mike Rosolino said. "So proud of Shaun today. He ran a smart race moving up the whole race. It's a great way to finish up a season with a new cross country school record."

Colorado Mines (57) won the team national championship, with the highest team from the South Region being Alabama-Huntsville (491) who finished 19th. Ezra Mutai of American International won the individual title in 29:31.2.
