Final Results
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's golf team closed out their first tournament of the 2019 spring season on Monday, shooting a 315 at the Slammer & Squire at the World Golf Village in Flagler's World Golf Invitational. The Eagles finished in a tie for 15th place overall with a 638 (323-315).
ERAU's 315 was it's third-best round of the 2018-19 campaign
Natalie Brooks (81-75=156) tied a career-low round on Monday, collecting three birdies, leading the Eagle scorers.
Olivia Whitten's 158 (76-82) and
Megan Pollenz's 160 (83-77) finished second and third for the Blue and Gold, while
Daniela Pena (83-81=164) rounded out the Eagle scorers.
Erika Shellenberger (86-82=168) also competed for Embry-Riddle.
On the individual side,
Kelly Harris closed out her best collegiate tournament with a final-round 78 for a tournament total of 150 (72-78).
Camila Sierra had a two-day score of 157 (81-76), while
Catherine Yaun finished with a 164 (83-81).
All eight Eagle competitors lowered their season scoring average over the two-day event.
"That's a wrap on our first event of the spring," Head Coach
Maria Lopez said. "I'm proud of some of our great rallies today and I think we got a good understanding of what we need to do to be where we want to be this spring."
Nova Southeastern won the 18-team tournament with a 579 (288-291), 25 strokes better than runner-up Tampa (307-295=602). Saint Leo (304-301=605), host Flagler (303-306=609) and Florida Southern (300-311=611) rounded out the top five.
Embry-Riddle will next partake in the Lady Moc Classic on Feb. 18-19 at the Grasslands Country Club.
