Women’s Lacrosse Rolls to 22-6 Win Over Newberry

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Four goals each by Gillian Greenberg and Mya Watson helped lift the Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team to a 22-6 victory over Newberry, Saturday at the ERAU Lacrosse Field. The win extended the Eagles' home winning streak to four games this year and improved their overall record to 4-1, while the Wolves fell to 2-3 with the loss.

Greenberg finished with a game-high six points on four goals and two assists, while Watson added four goals and Elizabeth Ninesling and Carson Toney finished with three goals apiece. Tori Lammes and Devyn Taht each finished with five points, as Lammes tallied two goals and three assists and Taht recorded four assists and a goal. Ninesling also won six draws and eight ground balls in the win.

The Eagles dominated the offense early, as Watson scored the first goal of the day just nine seconds into the contest. The Eagles then reeled off nine unanswered over an eight-minute stretch that saw Ninesling record a hat trick and Meg Jourden score her first goal of the season, and at the 22:21 mark the Eagle lead was 10-0.

After Chloe Wood recorded Newberry's first goal midway through the half, the Eagles scored three unanswered to go up 13-1. Wood scored again at the 14:30 mark and Sophie Moore added another goal with eight minutes left, but a pair of scores by Greenberg with less than four minutes in the period gave the Blue and Gold a 16-3 lead at the half.

After the Eagles widened the gap to 18-3, the Wolves found the back of the net three times in a seven-minute period, but their last goal came at the 11:59 mark, and ERAU punctuated the win with three unanswered scores in the final 8:43 of the contest.

Next up for the Eagles is a March 6 date against Queens University of Charlotte. That game will be played at the ERAU Lacrosse Field and is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
