SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team suffered a loss in its first Sunshine State Conference game of the season, falling to No. 22 Saint Leo 24-6, Saturday at the Lions' University Turf Field. The Eagles are now 8-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while the Lions remain undefeated at 12-0 and 1-0 in the league.
McKenzie Jackson recorded her 10
th hat trick of the year with all of her team-high three goals coming in the second half, two of which came on free position shots. Jackson also snagged seven draws, while
Emily Suh picked up three ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers in the loss.
Gillian Greenberg scored the game's first goal just under 90 seconds into the contest, and the score was tied at 2-2 at the 24:45 mark. Less than two minutes later, Delaney Chrisco made it 3-2 Lions, and that started a run of nine straight goals that helped Saint Leo to a 15-3 lead at the half.
Jackson found the back of the net twice to start the first half, but the Lions scored six goals in the final 15:19 to secure the win.
The Eagles' next game will be at home against Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday.
