DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team swept the visiting Davis & Elkins (2-7) 7-0 at the Crotty Tennis Complex on Saturday.
The Eagles started the day with a sweep in doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Andres Donayre and Blake Rhoweder's 6-1 win over Jacob Bowman and Cordel Bostic at No. 3 doubles set the tone for ERAU (3-4). On the second court, Mikael Faucher and
Lucas Bos defeated Andrew Shand and Alvaro Legoinha 6-2, while
Alexis Guedy and
Andrej Omeragic earned a 7-5 win over Obert Mulyadi and Alejandro Meseguer in the top spot to complete the sweep.
Tim Loerwink made quick work of Bostic at No. 4 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0. The next match off the court was the third spot when Faucher topped Shand 6-1, 6-2. Donayre followed at the top spot with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mulyadi which clinched the win for the Eagles. At No. 2 singles
Lucas Bos beat Meseguer 6-3, 6-2 followed by a win at No. 5 by Rhoweder over Cody Turner 6-0, 6-1.
Zen Manwani earned a win by forfeit at No. 6 singles.
Today's sweep was the first 7-0 victory for the ERAU men's team since the February 13th match against Keiser. The Eagles have now posted back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
The Eagles continue to defend their home courts on Monday when they face Coastal Carolina. The match will take place at 10 a.m.
