DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team posted its second straight shutout in a 7-0 win over Davis and Elkins (2-8) at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
Saturday's match started with a 6-1 win by
Georgina Wood and
Alexis Marshall over Valentine Schwartz and Karin Rosario at No. 2 doubles. On the third court,
Roberta Krvajica and
Mafalda Soares defeated Laura Vargas and Julianna Singleton 6-2 to earn the doubles point. At the top spot,
Itxaso Blanco and
Jillian Hobbs beat Taylour Newman and Ester Bolmenas 6-2 to complete the sweep.
ERAU (3-3) carried the momentum from doubles into singles competition. Wood was first off the courts after defeating Vargas 6-0, 6-0. Marshall followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win of her own over Schwartz at No. 4 singles. Blanco had the game-clinching point for ERAU after a 6-1, 6-0 win over Newman at the top spot.
Soares defeated Rosario on the fifth court 6-2, 6-1. At No. 3 singles,
Sabrina Ehrenfort earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Bolmenas.
Maria Secatore finished the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
The Eagles have registered back-to-back shutouts for the first time since March of last season. ERAU will continue to defend its home courts on Tuesday when they face the United States Naval Academy. The match will start at 1 p.m.
