DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team capped its 2019 home slate with a loss to top-ranked Lynn, Tuesday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The Fighting Knights won all three doubles and five of six singles matches to take the match 6-1, and remain unbeaten at 19-0 overall and 10-0 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Eagles are now 7-11 overall and 3-6 in the league.
The Fighting Knights surrendered just two games in three matches to claim the doubles point. No. 46 Ulyana Grib and Leolia Jeanjean downed
Itxaso Blanco and
Roberta Krvajica 6-0 on court one, followed by Eliska Petrackova and Anastasi Parkin's 6-0 win over
Georgina Wood and
Jillian Hobbs on court two, and Geirgia Pigato and Eleonora Liga completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 victory over
Mafalda Soares and
Alexis Marshall on court three.
In singles, Liga made it 2-0 Lynn with her 6-2, 6-2 win against Krvajica at the second position, and Grib extended the advantage to 3-0 after holding off Blanco 7-6 (2), 6-4 at the top spot.
The clinching point came at No. 5 singles where Petrackova held off Marshall 7-5, 6-4.
The Eagles only point of the afternoon came at the sixth spot where Soares downed Pigato 6-3, 6-1.
The Eagles close out regular season play at No. 3 Saint Leo on Wednesday. Match time is slated for 3 p.m.
