DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team played its final game of the 2019 season on Saturday night, falling to the visiting Rollins Tars by a score of 14-9. The Eagles end the season at 8-9, 0-7 in SSC play, while Rollins improves to 10-4, 4-3 in conference action.
Jared Kane led the Blue and Gold with four goals on five shots while
Mitchell Cody racked up a game-high four assists.
Gavriel Del Villar chipped in a pair of goals and
Kyle Dalrymple tallied a goal and an assist in his final collegiate game.
Lucas Fraser made 13 saves in goal for ERAU as his record slipped to 8-9.
The Tars scored the first two goals of the game before
Jacob Schripsema got the home team on the board just over five minutes into the contest. Rollins got its two-goal lead back in short order, but the Eagles trimmed it to one late in the period when Kane notched his first goal of the game with 28 seconds on the clock, making it 3-2. RC held the Eagles scoreless in the second quarter as the visitors extended their lead to 7-2 at the half.
Madden, Del Villar, and Kane all tallied markers for Embry-Riddle in the third, but Rollins tacked on five goals in the quarter to increase its lead to 12-5 heading to the fourth.
Dalrymple got his goal early in the final period but Rollins answered back just over a minute later to regain its seven-goal cushion, 13-6. Kane got his third goal at the 5:30 mark, which was again quickly answered by the Tars just 46 seconds later. Del Villar and Kane each netted goals just 17 seconds apart late in the period, but it wasn't enough as the Blue and Gold fell by a final score of 14-9.
Seniors Dalrymple,
Charles Pollock, and
Joey Santella played their final game on Saturday night. Dalrymple finishes his career as one of the top scorers in the early history of the program with 42 goals and 18 assists for 60 points to go along with 57 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Pollock graduates with a career stat line of two goals and two assists for four points, along with 31 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Santella picked up three ground balls on Saturday and wraps up his career with six goals and five assists for 11 points to go along with 56 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.
