2019 Women's Cross Country Schedule
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - After bursting on to the NCAA II cross country scene in their first two seasons of postseason eligibility, the Embry-Riddle men's and women's cross country programs look to solidify their place at the top of the Sunshine State Conference and South Region in 2019. Head Coach
Mike Rosolino, entering his 17th season at the helm of the Eagle cross country programs, has released the 2019 schedule with the expectation of one or two more regular season meets to be added in the coming weeks. Rosolino, who has 27 cross country conference and regional Coach of the Year honors under his belt, has put together a regular season schedule with the intention to prepare the Blue and Gold for the postseason, where both the men and women have claimed SSC titles in the past two seasons and are both defending South Region champions.
The season begins on Sept. 14 at the University of Florida for the Mountain Dew Invitational. This will mark the 11th consecutive season the Eagles have run at the Mountain Dew Invitational; last season, the men placed fourth overall and the women finished seventh as a team.
The 17th annual ASICS Embry-Riddle Classic is set for Sept. 21 as the Eagles' lone home meet of the 2019 season and will once again serve as one of the premier cross country meets in the state of Florida. The ERAU women ran to a third-place finish in last season's 13-team field, while the men won the meet for the second straight year.
Embry-Riddle will trek to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Queen City Invitational on Oct. 11, in 2018, the men had one of their best races of the season, placing second overall behind NCAA I Liberty and edging host and NCAA II No. 7 Queens. The women were the top non-NCAA I finisher last season, placing fourth overall in a loaded field.
Postseason begins on Oct. 26 at the Sunshine State Conference Championship in Boca Raton, hosted by Lynn. The men blew away the rest of the league in 2018, winning the conference title thanks to five runners in the top-11, highlighted by a 1-2-3 finish from a sophomore, freshman and junior. The women were narrowly edged by Tampa last season after claiming the SSC crown in 2017.
Florida Southern and Holloway Park will once again be the hosts for the NCAA II South Region Championship as the Eagle men and women hope to repeat as South Region champions on Nov. 9. The ERAU women won the 6K meet by over 30 points last season while the men beat the field by nearly 20 points.
The NCAA II National Championship will move from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Sacramento, California in 2019, and is set for Nov. 23. In 2018, the men finished 29th and the women placed 30th at the national meet.
