Game Recap: RV Women's Soccer |

@ERAUWSoccer Drops 3-2 Decision Against West Georgia

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team was unable to overcome a two-goal deficit in the first game of the Bobcat Shootout hosted by Georgia College on Saturday. The Eagles scored twice in the second half of play, but it wasn't it enough to get a win as they fell to the West Georgia 3-2.

"We walk away very disappointed in tonight." ERAU Head Coach Samantha Bohon said. "We always say there are a few things you can always control in a game and effort is one of them. We didn't show up well for the first 45 minutes and gave up poor goals that could have easily been avoided. We did better in the second half but didn't have composure in the final third. We know we can do much better and I'm hopeful this group will have a positive response on Sunday."

Defensive miscues led to the Blue and Gold falling behind by two goals in the first half of play. The Wolves netted their first goal in the 28th minute when Sadie Prince picked off an errant Eagle pass and scored an unassisted goal to put UWG up 1-0. The second score came from the penalty spot after an Eagle defender was called for a hand ball inside the 18-yard box. Janasia Smith converted on the penalty kick to make it 2-0 at the half.

The Eagles came out with a sense of purpose to start the second half, recording the first five shots of the frame. In the 53rd minute, Ragnheidur Gardarsdottir collected the ball on the left side, dribbled through two defenders and slotted the ball past the advancing UWG goalkeeper into the lower right corner to pull the Eagles within a goal.

Just over 14 minutes later, the Eagles found themselves down by two goals once again after Hillary Resendiz made it 3-1 in favor of the Wolves.

With just over eight minutes left in regulation, the Eagles won a corner kick. Isabelle Navren whipped the ball into the penalty area where Sophie Brundin headed it into the goal to make it 3-2.

The Eagles stepped up their intensity in the closing minutes of the game and continued to pressure West Georgia, but they were unable to find the back of the net again resulting in the 3-2 final.

The Eagles will look to bounce back on Sunday with they face tournament host Georgia College at 3 p.m.
