@ERAUMBasketball Shoots Past Tritons, 106-78

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team got back to its first semester form on Saturday night, shooting past the visiting Eckerd Tritons, 106-78. The Eagles (13-3, 5-3 SSC) shot a blistering 68 percent in the second half to turn a six-point halftime lead into a blowout, outscoring Eckerd (6-9, 2-5 SSC) by 22 in the final period. For the game, the Blue and Gold shot a season-best 58 percent (39-for-67) and went 16-for-35 from beyond the three-point line.

Embry-Riddle reached the century mark for the first time in four games, and the ninth time this season, with five players reaching double-figures on the offensive end, led by Romeo Crouch's 25 points. Crouch went 7-for-11 from the floor, 5-of-8 from deep and 6-for-8 at the free throw line, while recording his fourth double-double of the year with 10 assists. Elijah Jenkins connected on six triples and finished with 22 points on the night, while Luka Majstorovic had his fifth double-double of 2019-20 and 15th of his career, going for 14 points, 10 boards and five blocks. Dru Nickson, earning the first start of his collegiate career, went for 13 points, five assists and four rebounds, and Nick Heard rounded out the Eagle double-digit scorers with 10 points to go along with seven rebounds.

ERAU jumped out to a 7-2 lead on a steal and score from Jenkins just a few minutes into the game, but Eckerd answered with a 6-0 run to take their first and only lead of the game. Nickson buried a three on the next Eagle possession and ERAU never trailed again, increasing the lead to 20-10 on a Jenkins trey with 13:50 on the clock.

The Eagles held a comfortable lead for most of the first half, going up by as many as 14, but the Tritons ended the period on a 13-5 run to trim the Eagle advantage to 48-42 at the break.

The two teams battled back-and-forth for the opening minutes of the second half, but with a 55-50 lead, the home team went on an 11-0 run in three minutes. Jenkins scored the first five points of the spurt with a pair of free throws and a three-pointer, followed by a Nickson three and then a Crouch three as all of a sudden, the Eagles led 66-50.

After Eckerd was able to get within a dozen at the 12-minute mark, another run by the Eagles, this one a 12-0 run, but the game away for good. Crouch and Jenkins each hit a pair of treys over the next two minutes and ERAU enjoyed an 81-57 cushion.

Embry-Riddle would go up by as many as 33 on a Tylin Lockett-Fuller fastbreak layup with four minutes to play as the Eagles cruised to the 106-78 final.

Everyone that suited up for ERAU played in the win with Embry-Riddle's ninth 100-point output the third-most in a single-season in program history.

The Eagles embark on a big three-game road swing over the next two weeks, starting on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Saint Leo. Tip is slated for 7:30 p.m.
