MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-6 decision at Montevallo on Saturday. The loss moved ERAU's season record to 1-2, while the Falcons improved to 2-1.
Gavin Madden led the way with a pair of goals while
Lars Hoeg had a two-point day with a goal and an assist.
Mark Urso scored a goal and was 17-of-22 in faceoffs with a game-high 13 ground balls, and
Michael Forte led the team with three caused turnovers.
The Blue and Gold got on the board first with a goal from Madden just over four minutes into the game. After the Falcons tied it at the 9:55 mark of the first, Urso won the ensuing faceoff and wasted no time scoring to put the Eagles back in front, 2-1. That would prove to be the last goal ERAU would score in the first half, as Montevallo notched two more goals in the first to take a 3-2 lead and then tallied six markers in the second quarter to build the lead to 9-2 at the half.
The Falcons opened the scoring in the third quarter with back-to-back goals to increase the margin to 11-2.
Coleman Jacobs and Hoeg scored the final two goals of the quarter to trim the deficit to 11-4. The fourth quarter saw each side register a pair of goals as well, with Madden and
Joe Anderson scoring for the Blue and Gold.
The Eagles will continue their season-opening road trip on Monday, Feb. 17 when they travel to Young Harris for a 2 p.m. contest.
