DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team suffered its first Sunshine State Conference loss of the season on Saturday, falling to top-ranked Barry 7-0 at the Crotty Tennis Complex. Battling the three-time defending national champion and 20+ mile-per-hour winds, the Eagles fell to 2-1 overall and 0-1 league play. Barry remains undefeated at 5-0 on the year and 3-0 in the SSC.
 
Barry got on the board first when Xiyao Wang and Daniela Farfan topped Itxaso Blanco and Alexis Marshall 6-1 at the top doubles position. At the third spot, Barry's Maria Skyba and Julia Razafindranaly downed Julia Mautner and Sabrina Ehrenfort to clinch the doubles point.
 
The match at the No. 2 doubles spot saw Roberta Krvajica and Georgina Wood go up two breaks (5-2), but Jill Englemann and Qianxin Kong rallied to win the match 7-6 (7-5) to complete the doubles sweep.
 
Barry picked up two quick wins in singles at the No. 5 and No. 3 spots as Skyba topped Mautner 6-2, 6-2 and No. 41 Razafindranaly downed Ehrenfort 6-1, 6-0. The match at the fourth position saw No. 47 Farfan best Marshall 6-1, 6-0 to score the clinching point.
 
The Eagles are back in action on Sunday when they travel to West Palm Beach to take on Palm Beach Atlantic in another SSC battle. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
