WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team notched its first Sunshine State Conference win on Sunday, moving to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in league play. Playing their first road contest of the season, the Eagles won two doubles and five singles matches en route to a 6-1 win against Palm Beach Atlantic (2-3, 0-2 SSC) at PBAU's Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.

The Eagles easily captured the doubles point with shutouts at the first and third spots. Playing at No. 1 doubles, Itxaso Blanco and Alexis Marshall made quick work of Shelby Groeneveld and Yuliia Russu, topping the PBAU duo 6-0. At the third spot, Julia Mautner and Sabrina Ehrenfort teamed up to dispatch Anabelle Robichaud and Estefani Fernandez 6-0.

The Sailfish avoided the doubles sweep when Elvira Edstrom and Verena Weindl topped Georgina Wood and Roberta Krvajica 6-3.

The first singles point also went to the Sailfish as Groeneveld bested Blanco 6-0, 6-1 at the top spot. The Blue and Gold quickly reclaimed the lead when Krvajica downed Edstrom 6-0, 6-1 on court three. Mafalda Soares made it 3-1 in favor of the Eagles with her 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Fernandez on court six, and Georgina Wood clinched the team victory with her 6-1, 6-2 win over Russu at the No. 2 spot.

Playing at the fifth position, Marshall easily won her first set 6-1 against Robichaud. The ERAU senior fell behind 1-4 in the second set but regrouped and adjusted her game plan to win five straight games to take the match 6-1, 6-4.
