TUSCULUM, Tennessee - It was all Embry-Riddle in the series opener against Tusculum, as the Eagles weathered a suspension due to rain to come away with a 12-1 win over the Pionners. The Eagles (16-6) had a season-best 21 hits to improve to 3-0 all-time against Tusculum (14-10).
Luis Olivier hit his 29
th career home run in the top of the first, a no-doubter to left center that gave the visitors an early lead. Carrell worked quickly through the top of the Pioneer order in the home half of the first to start his solid outing.

ERAU couldn't break through against TC starter Sam Loew, leaving multiple runners on base in the second and fourth frames, but Carrell did his job, keeping the Pioneers off the scoreboard and keeping the Eagles in the lead.

Embry-Riddle broke through against reliever Hunter Jefferson in the fifth, putting together a two-out rally that started with Olivier being hit by a pitch.
Andrew Martinez tripled, his third of the season, scoring Olivier all the way from first, and then he scored after
John Devine singled to center, making it 3-0 Embry-Riddle.

Carrell worked around a leadoff single in the bottom of the fifth, and the Blue and Gold added two more runs in the after a nearly two hour rain delay during ERAU's sixth inning. With runners at the corners and one out,
Kyle Guttveg stole second before
Mike Lawson singled in
Eric Feliz from third. Martinez collected his second RBI of the game with a base hit up the middle as ERAU enjoyed a 5-0 cushion.

Garrett Goodall took over for Carrell in the sixth, going three-up, three-down, and the Eagles scored for the third inning in a row when
Cody Forster scored Devine from third base in the top of the seventh, recording a single through the left side after Devine and
Robert Post had both singled to start the frame.

While Goodall was warming up prior to the bottom of the seventh, the game was officially suspended due to rain before it was picked back up on Wednesday.

The Eagles picked up right where they left off on Tuesday when the game resumed on Wednesday afternoon, scoring six more runs over the final two frames.

After a scoreless home seventh from
Daniel Rutherford, the Eagles got RBIs from Devine and Feliz, as well as a run-scoring balk to go up 9-0 in the eighth inning. The Pioneers finally scored in the last of the eighth, but Rutherford limited the damage to just one run.

The Blue and Gold added three more runs in the ninth thanks to hits from
Jake Mottice,
Garrett Bogart,
Daniel Trillo, Reynolds and
Max Law, while
Daniel Lopez got in on the action with a sac fly.Â

Dylan Buzbee pitched the bottom of the ninth, and although he allowed his first career hit, the right-hander closed things out without allowing a run, the final out of the contest coming via an incredible catch in left from Trillo.

Carrell (W, 3-0) got the win with his quality start, holding TU to just three hits, while Goodall, Rutherford and Buzbee all pitched well in relief.

Devine, Post and Feliz all finished with three hits, while Lawson, Olivier and Martinez each had a pair of base knocks. Devine and Martinez had two RBIs apiece.
