@ERAUBaseball Handles Bobcats, 14-2

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Behind a solid night on the mound from J.C. Carrell and a big offensive output, the Embry-Riddle baseball team had no trouble with West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night, beating WVW 14-2. The Eagles (13-5) registered 13 hits, with the middle of the lineup doing the bulk of the damage en route to the 12-run, mercy-rule shortened win over the Bobcats (0-12).

Embry-Riddle jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first, the bulk of which came on Josh Reynolds' first career long ball, a three-run shot down the left field line. Carrell (W, 1-0) worked around a leadoff single in the bottom of the first and never really faced trouble, allowing just two unearend runs in the fifth.

ERAU scored in six of seven innings with Reynolds and Luis Olivier driving in three runs each, and Andrew Martinez finishing 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Mike Lawson tied an ERAU record by getting hit by three pitches, also scoring three times.

Garrett Bogart came off the bench to go 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while nearly everyone that saw action scored a run for the Blue and Gold. Tyler Stufano pitched a scoreless sixth inning before Payton Rice took care of the Bobcats in the seventh.

The Eagles got the run-rule victory thanks to a five-run seventh as Jake Mottice, Olivier and Bogart each collected RBIs in the frame.

ERAU returns to Sliwa Stadium to host Felician for a three-game weekend series beginning on Friday night with a single game at 6 p.m.
