MARBELLA, Spain - Luka Majstorovic, one of Embry-Riddle men's basketball's all-time greats, will begin his professional playing career this fall after signing with Club Baloncesto Marbella this week. The Belgrade, Serbia native becomes the latest in a long line of Eagles playing professionally overseas after spending five seasons with the Blue and Gold (2015-20).

"We are very excited about Luka's final decision on this opportunity to play professional basketball," Embry-Riddle Head Coach Steve Ridder said. "Luka worked extremely hard and was absolutely dedicated in his five years at ERAU both on the court and in the pursuit of two degrees. He accomplished so much and ultimately fulfilled his dream of earning both his undergraduate and Master's degree in Civil Engineering."

CB Marbella has had a historic rise over the past several seasons, moving all the way from the sixth division in 2016 to the LEB Plata in 2019-20 which plays in the Spanish third division. The Spanish squad went 14-11 last season in its first foray into LEB Plata and Head Coach Rafa Piña expects the addition of Majstorovic to CB Marbella's front court to help his team both offensively and defensively.

"I could not be more excited for Luka to begin his professional basketball career," Embry-Riddle assistant coach Chad Keller said. "Looking back and comparing Luka as a high school player when we first met over six years ago and where he is today is an impressive transformation. Luka put it an incredible amount of hard work and showed crazy discipline on and off the floor. That comittment level paid off for him in a major way, as shown by his senior year, and it will continue to generate improvement and success in his future."

Majstorovic, an Embry-Riddle fan favorite, developed into one of the premier post players in NCAA II basketball over the course of his college career. The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee product finished his Eagle career with six different top-10 career marks, as well as scoring 1,601 career points, the 11th-most in school history. Majstorovic was a first team All-Sunshine State Conference selection as a senior and a second team D2CCA All-South Region honoree. The post player averaged 17.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in 2019-20, registering 13 double-doubles in his final college campaign.

"I'm just really happy and excited to do what I love and have a passion for," Majstorovic said. "I'm grateful for the opportunity that I will be able to play basketball this year during the difficult circumstances across the globe. I am very excited to go to work!"

"Luka is so deserving of this opportunity," Ridder said. "He finished his ERAU career as one of the most accomplished, one of the most significantly improved, and one of the most popular players in Embry-Riddle basketball history. He is truly an all-time great in every area of his career! We are very proud of him and thrilled for both him and his family!"

CB Marbella and the rest of LEB Plata is slated to begin the 2020-21 season on Oct. 10.
