SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's cross country team competed in the NCAA II National Championship for the second time in program history and came away with a 29th-place finish in a 34-team field at The Abby Cross Country Course. It was a familiar layout for the Eagles as this was the third time this season, and the second occasion in a row, the team raced at the course.

Grand Valley State claimed the championship for the second time in the last three seasons with a 43-point finish, almost half the score of second-place Adams State (84 points). Colorado School of Mines rounded out the podium (123 points).

The Lakers also recorded the two fastest individual times with Issac Harding (29:58.3) crossing the line first with the only sub-30 time in the field.

Ryan Szklany had one of the best performances in program history. He worked his way through the field from 237th at the 550-meter mark to 66th at the finish line, the best result by an Eagle at the NCAA II National Championship. Additionally, the junior notched the second-lowest 10K time in the history of the program (32:03.7).

Micah Blair (33:01.5) also closed strong jumping from 199th at the midway point to 142nd by the end. Brendon Shea came home 173rd with a time of 33:31.0 while Paul Kraemer followed close behind in 179th (33:42.8) as well as Tanner Rosolino (187th, 33:51.5).

This puts a cap to a successful 2021 season that saw the Eagles win their home meet, the Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic, and claim their fourth Sunshine State Conference title.
