DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Wednesday's women's tennis match between Embry-Riddle and Palm Beach Atlantic lasted nearly five hours. Playing their second match of the season, the Eagles trailed for most of the contest, but wins at the second, fourth, fifth and sixth singles positions helped the Blue and Gold (1-1) secure its first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over the Sailfish (0-1).
 
Sabrina Ehrenfort and Julia Mautner teamed up to register the first doubles win of the day with a 6-2 defeat Madison Bezner and Vereda Weindl on court three. However, the Sailfish came back to take the remaining doubles matches as Elvira Edstrom and Quinty Janssen topped Itxaso Blanco and Jillian Hobbs 6-3, and Marie Bertran del Balanda and Rebecca Keijzerwaard held off Roberta Krvajica and Alexis Marshall 7-5 to claim the doubles point for PBA.
 
At the fourth spot, Marshall rallied from a 5-2 deficit to best Bertran de Balanda 7-5, 6-2 for the Eagles' first point of the day. The Sailfish reclaimed their lead with Keijzerwaard's 6-4, 7-5 win over Blanco on court one. 
 
Krvajica came out on the winning end of a three-set battle against Janssen, besting the Sailfish second-flight player 7-6 (3), 0-6, 6-4 to tie the team score at 2-2.
 
The Sailfish moved ahead again when Berzner got the better of a three-setter against Ehrenfort (6-1, 5-7, 6-3), but Mautner downed Anabelle Robichaud 6-3, 7-6 (3) at the fifth spot to knot the score at 3-3.
 
The deciding match between Mafalda Soares and Williams also went to three sets. In the end, it was Soares who rallied from a second-set setback to edge Williams 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 and clinch the victory for ERAU.
 
The Eagles are back in action at home on Sunday to host Eckerd in another SSC contest. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
