ORMOND BEACH, Florida - The Embry-Riddle women's golf team finished up the 2021 regular season on Monday by hosting the first-ever Embry-Riddle Oceanside Country Club Women's Collegiate Invitational, and the Eagles ended the regular season on a high note. ERAU, fielding two teams in the event, saw the Blue Team take the team crown with a 302-318=620, while the Gold Team finished just one shot back of second-place Eckerd.

Oceanside Country Club, serving as one of the Eagles' home courses, proved to be formidable for the four teams on Monday, especially in the second round as the wind picked up, but for the ERAU Blue Team, the 620 over their 36 holes was the ninth-best score in program history.
Sophia Dieter was the top finisher for both the Eagles and the entire field, firing a 73-76=149, just one stroke outside the program top-10 scores for a 36-hole tournament.
Marybeth McGuire had a career-low round of 76 in the opening round, finishing with a 155 (76-79) to finish as the tournament runner-up.
Kelly Harris (74-85=159) finished third overall, with
Brigitte Clements (83-77=160) leading the way for the ERAU Gold Team.
Reni Jancsik (79-82=161) rounded out the ERAU Blue Team scorers, while
Olivia Whitten (84-81=164) also played for the ERAU Gold Team.
Mackenzie Dieter's 164 (80-84) put her second on the Blue Team and seventh overall, while
Daniela Pena (89-88=177) and
Erika Shellenberger (91-95=186) contributed to the Blue Team effort.
"I am super proud of both of our Blue and Gold teams today," Head Coach
Maria Lopez said. "It was a great way to end the regular season. They really dug in and played with honor, honoring the opportunity and privilege of competing at OCC. Oceanside can be a tricky place to play, it's one of the finest golf courses in the country and it will stretch you and teach you where you need to grow. I always hold my breath when we compete here. It will grow your patience and toughen you as a competitor. To grab a win, improve personal bests, really honor the chance to compete and hang with family made it a very special event. We want to thank the administration, family, staff and OCC for making this possible."
Eckerd (336-350=686) just edged the ERAU Blue Team (343-344=687), with Lubbock Christian (359-362=721) coming in fourth.
The Eagles will next participate in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, April 12-13 in Vero Beach. The postseason event is slated for the Bent Pine Golf Club.
The 2021 Embry-Riddle spring sport season is sponsored by Marco's Pizza.
