MIAMI SHORES, Fla. –The Embry-Riddle women's tennis suffered a loss in its first match of the 2021 season on Saturday, falling to Sunshine State Conference foe and top-ranked Barry (2-0) 4-0 on the road.
Barry won the doubles point by sweeping all three doubles matches. Jill Englemann and Julie Razafindranaly downed
Julia Mautner and
Sabrina Ehrenfort 6-0 on court three for the first win. Xiayo Wang and Madeline Bosnjak top
Itxaso Blanco and
Jillian Hobbs at No. 1, 6-2, and Kim Moosbacher and Daniela Farfan bested
Roberta Krvajica and
Alexis Marshall by the same score at No. 2.
The Bucs got their first singles point with Mariia Skyba's 6-0, 6-1 win over Soares at No. 5. Englemann was victorious over Blanco 6-1, 6-1 at the top spot, and after Bosnjak held off Krvajica 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2, Farfan recorded the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Secatore on court six.
The Eagles will play the first of five home matches at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday when they host Palm Beach Atlantic at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
