DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's and women's cross country programs were both recognized as 2021 All-Academic Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Thursday. To be eligible for All-Academic team honors a program must have a cumulative grade point average (not academic year or semester) for all its student-athletes of 3.0 or higher.
The ERAU men's team posted a GPA of 3.47, while the women recorded 3.3 cumulative GPA.
In addition to the team honors, seven individuals were named All-Academic Athletes. To be considered for All-Academic Athlete recognition, a student-athlete must have completed at least 24 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
The ERAU men were represented by Austin Epstein, Paul Kraemer, Tanner Rosolino and Ryan Szklany. The top finisher for the Eagles with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA II South Regional, Kraemer has a 3.5 GPA in the Aerospace Engineering graduate program. Szklany is no stranger to academic honors as the senior, who placed 14th at regionals, has a perfect 4.0 in Aerospace Engineering. Epstein completed his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with a 3.258 GPA, while Rosolino, who was also a top-30 finisher at the regional meet, carries a 3.853 in Aerospace Engineering.
Ukeyvia Beckwith, Rachel Jones and Kelly Steffens garnered the honor on the women's side for ERAU. Beckwith completed her undergraduate degree in Aerospace and Occupational Safety last spring and currently has a 4.0 GPA in pursuit of her MBA. Beckwith paced the Eagles at the NCAA II South Regional, crossing the line in 25th place overall in a career-best time of 23:24.61 to earn All-Region honors. Jones is a Mechanical Engineering major with a 3.529 GPA, while Steffens has a 4.0 in Homeland Security.
