WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team notched its first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Florida National 7-0 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
The Eagles surrendered just seven points in three doubles matches.
Jessica Wira Hadipoernomo and
Mafalda Soares teamed up for a 6-1 defeat of Fabiola Bsereni and Nadia Abad on court two. The matches on courts one and three each finished with 6-3 scores as
Itxaso Blanco and Carla Cabrero del Hierro downed Vanessa Simone and Sofia Pera at No. 1, and
Julia Mautner and
Sabrina Ehrenfort top Nina Langenfeld and Karyna Krykunenko at No. 3.
The first three singles matches to be completed were all 6-0, 6-1 decisions.
Alessia Tripaldelli bested Bsereni at the fourth spot to register the Eagles' first singles point of the afternoon. Wira Hadipoernomo topped Abad on court three, and Blanco scored the clincher with her win over Pera on court one.
The Eagles' next match will be at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday against Ave Maria at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
