MIAMI LAKES, Florida - The Embry-Riddle women's golf team finished up the regular season portion of its 2021-22 season schedule on Tuesday, firing a final-round 319 at the Barry Invitational. The Eagles placed 11th overall in the 13-team tournament, hosted by Barry, and held at Shula's Golf Club; ERAU shot 956 (323-314-319) over the three-round, two-day event.
Kelly Harris (82-76-80=238) narrowly edged teammates
Millie Lawson (80-79-80=239) and
Mackenzie Dieter (81-79-79=239) as the top Eagle finisher, while
Sophia Dieter (80-80-81=241) rounded out the Embry-Riddle scorers.
Reni Jancsik (87-82-80=249) improved in each of her three rounds at the Senator Course for the Blue and Gold.
Individually,
Brigitte Clements had the best round of any Eagle on Tuesday, finishing the tournament with a 248 (80-90-78), and
Paula Valdivia (84-89-91=264) also participated as an individual.
"Today's finish is not what we hoped for, but we fought through it," Head Coach
Maria Lopez said. "It feels like we've built a good foundation going into the postseason. We are hungry to have it all come together. It will be special to play in our back yard and hopefully make our people proud."
Tampa (886) won the team title, followed by host Barry (893), Nova Southeastern (895), Lynn (904), and Saint Leo (906) rounded out the top-five.
Embry-Riddle will now turn its attention to the postseason and the 2022 Sunshine State Conference Championship. The Eagles will serve as the hosts for the 2022 edition of the conference championship, and the event will be held at Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club, April 10-12.
