No. 41 Women’s Tennis Topples No. 34 Rollins

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 41st-ranked Embry-Riddle women's tennis team extended its current winning streak to 10 matches with a 6-1 upset of No. 34 Rollins in Sunshine State Conference play, Tuesday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The win was the Eagles' first against the Tars (9-6, 3-3) since 2016 and improved ERAU's record to 12-5 overall and 2-3 in league play.

The first doubles win went to the Eagles when Julia Mautner and Sabrina Ehrenfort dispatched Eva Wasil and Erin Yaroshuk 6-2. Playing on court two, Mafalda Soares and Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo trailed early, but battled back to secure the doubles point with a 7-5 win over Maria McKay and Kaithlynn Groves.

Just five days after becoming the first woman in ERAU history to garner a top-10 NCAA II singles ranking, ninth-ranked Itxaso Blanco gave the Eagles their second point of the afternoon via a 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Georgina Groth at the top spot.

Mautner's 6-2, 6-4 win over Natalia Collado Cord at No. 6 made it 3-0 in favor of the home team and Wira Hadipoernomo sealed the Eagles' second SSC win of the year by topping Groves 6-3, 6-3.

Ehrenfort was next to register a point with 7-5, 6-1 win over Polina Vlasova and Carla Cabrero del Hierro followed with a three-set (7-6 (5), 1-6, 10-5) win against Alexandra Borg.

The last match off the court also went to three sets and lasted nearly 45 minutes longer than the other singles contests. In the end, it was McKay who was able to hold off Alessia Tripaldelli 5-7, 7-5, 10-5.

The Eagles' next match will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday when they host Southeastern at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
