LAKELAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team was unable to get by No. 39 Florida Southern on Thursday, falling to the Lady Mocs 4-3 at FSC's Wynee Warden Tennis Complex. The Eagles are now 11-6 on the year and 2-4 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Lady Mocs are just ahead of the Eagles in the league standings at 3-5 and 11-7 overall.
Florida Southern grabbed the doubles point with wins at the first and third spots. The Eagles' only doubles win of the day was on court three where
Sabrina Ehrenfort and
Julia Mautner downed Minnie Kim and Flor Salerno.
Two of the three Eagle wins in singles were straight set victories as
Itxaso Blanco defeated Laura Vetter 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 and Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo dropped just two games in her 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Kim at No. 3.
ERAU's third point came from Ehrenfort who got the better of Isabella Bolivar, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 at the fourth spot, but the Lady Mocs got the points they need at the three remaining spots to come away with the win.
The Eagles have just one day of rest before they host top-ranked Barry at the Crotty Tennis Complex at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
