DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's' tennis team rolled through singles play en route to a 7-0 shutout of Lee, Tuesday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The Eagles are now 6-5 on the year, while Lee falls to 3-5 overall.
The Eagles took an early advantage after taking two of three doubles matches.
Julia Mautner and
Sabrina Ehrenfort got the Eagles on the board with their 6-2 victory over Hayden Smith and Larissa Weiser on court three. After the Lady Flames picked up a win at the top spot, Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo and
Mafalda Soares secured the doubles point by topping Sierra Donaldson and Lauren Trammell 6-4 at the second position.
Wira Hadipoernomo was efficient in her 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Lauren Trammell at No. 3.
Itxaso Blanco was next off the court after outlasting Ashleigh Simes 6-4, 6-4 on court one and Ehrenfort scored the clinching point with her 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Smith at the fourth spot.
Playing at No. 2 singles, Carla Cabrero del Hierro rallied from a 6-0 loss in the first set to take the next two sets 6-2, 6-0 against Lisa Kirr. Mautner topped Weiser 7-5, 6-0 at No. 6 and
Alessia Tripaldelli sealed the shutout with her 7-5, 6-1 win over Donaldson on court five.
The Eagles' next match will be against No. 16 Augustana on Wednesday. That match will be played at a neutral site at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs.
