BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 26th-ranked Embry-Riddle women's tennis team suffered a tough loss in its regular season finale, falling to Sunshine State Conference foe and fourth-ranked Lynn (13-4, 6-3) 4-1 on Friday.
The Eagles got the first win of the day when
Julia Mautner and
Sabrina Ehrenfort teamed up for a 6-4 win over Eliska Petrackova and Irina Lapustina at No. 3 doubles. The Fighting Knights evened things up with a win at No. 2.
Itxaso Blanco and Carla Cbrero del Hierro gave the 10th-ranked tandem of Jacqueline Wagner and Karyna Bihel all they could handle but eventually 7-6 (9-7), giving Lynn a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
Carla Cabrero del Hierro was able to get a point back with her 6-4, 7-5 defeat of Zofia Podbiol at No. 2 singles, but Lynn notched straight-set victories on courts one, three and four to capture the win.
The Eagles close out the regular season at 12-8 overall and 3-6 in the league. ERAU will be the No. 7 seed in the eight-team Sunshine State Conference tournament, which will be held April 22-24 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
