MELBOURNE, Florida - For the third straight season the Embry-Riddle men's cross country team will be the favorites to claim the Sunshine State Conference crown. The Eagles picked up five first-place votes and 33 total points to top the seven-team poll, and will look to capture the program's third straight, and fourth overall, SSC title.
ERAU, who has claimed the last two SSC championships, is in front of second-place Saint Leo in the ranking. The Lions grabbed the final two first-place votes and 31 total points. Tampa (26), Florida Southern (24), Lynn (12), Palm Beach Atlantic (12), and Nova Southeastern (9) round out the poll.
The Eagles return their top five runners from last year's SSC Championship squad, including first team All-SSC performers
Ryan Szklany and
Paul Kraemer, as well as second team runners
Brendon Shea and
Micah Blair.
The 2022 season gets started on Sept. 10 when the Eagles travel to Cocoa, Florida for the EFSC Fall Classic.
