MELBOURNE, Florida - It didn't take long for the Embry-Riddle men's cross country team to claim its first hardware of the 2022 season. The Eagles opened their campaign at the first-ever Eastern Florida State Fall Classic at Wickham Park, winning both the team and individual titles over Florida Southern.
Paul Kraemer grabbed the seventh top-10 finish of his career with his meet victory, edging FSC's Owen Allen by 3.6 seconds.
Embry-Riddle - 29 points [1-3-4-10-11 (20) (21)]
ERAU, picked to win the Sunshine State Conference title for the third consecutive year, had a good season-opening challenge with the Mocs, beating the Lakelanders by 13 points thanks to five scorers in the top-11. ERAU's total time of 2:10.23 was nearly 30 seconds better than FSC.Â
Flagler (80 points) was the only other team under 100 points in the seven-team field.
The Eagles
Kraemer (25:37.2), who was the Eagles' top finisher in four races a year ago, led the Blue and Gold in the 8K race to grab the second individual meet title of his career.
Tanner Rosolino (25:51.5) finished third in his second-best time ever, just ahead of
Brendon Shea (25:55.0).
Ryan Szklany (26:26.1) placed 10th overall, the 15th time in his Eagle career he posted a top-10 finish, and
Andrew Stowe (26:33.3) impressed in his collegiate debut, rounding out the ERAU scorers in 11th place.
