DAYTONA BEACH, Florida - The Embry-Riddle volleyball team opened the home portion of their 2022 schedule with a resounding 3-1 won over Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday night. The Eagles, 9-2 overall, improved to 3-0 in the Sunshine State Conference, while the Sailfish dropped to 5-5 overall, and 0-3 in SSC play.

In the opening set, the Eagles pulled away late, breaking a 17-17 tie on a PBA service error and scoring eight of the period's last 12 points, capped by a McBride kill.
In the second, it was another back-and-forth affair, with the Sailfish going up 14-10 before ERAU answered with four straight points to knot the set at 14-14. With the score at 17-17,
Isabella Rujano registered a big kill, followed by a
Lexie Hage kill and the Eagles were able to hold off a late PBA rally, taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-23 set two win.
The Eagles were poised to sweep the Sailfish, but the visiting team, tied 17-17 with ERAU, out-scored the hosts 8-5 over the final few minutes to force a fourth set.
ERAU turned things on in the fourth, wasting little time to race out to a 15-6 lead on back-to-back attack errors by the Sailfish, and never really looked back, cruising to a 25-14 victory in the fourth and final set.
The Eagles stay at home and will host Barry tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. in the ICI Center.
