DAYTONA BEACH, Florida - In one of the closest team races in meet history, the Embry-Riddle men's cross country team narrowly edged Tampa for the team title at the 19th annual Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic. The crown is the Eagles' 17th title in the 19 years of the event. Paul Kraemer won his second straight individual title of the season, and made it back-to-back ERAU Cross Country Classic individual championships, having won the 2021 race.

Embry-Riddle - 45 points [1-3-6-17-18 (19) (22)]
Tampa, picked to finish third in the SSC by the coaches in their preseason poll, put nine runners in the top-18, but because of the Eagles' top-end finishers going 1-3-6, the hosts were able to hold off the Spartans by one point (45 to 46). ERAU's total time of 2:15:48 was just six seconds in front of the Spartans' 2:15:54.

Palm Beach Atlantic (81) and Nova Southeastern (123) from the SSC beat out NCAA I Seton Hall (125), all three finishing in the top five in the team race. There were 16 total teams in the race.

The Eagles
Kraemer (26:25.71) cruised to his second consecutive meet victory, finishing 15 seconds in front of PBA's Antoine Laigle. Brendon Shea (26:45.93) finished in third overall, followed by Tanner Rosolino (27:01.58) in sixth.

Ryan Szklany (27:32.51) and Tayan Benson (28:01.91) placed 19th and 21st overall, earning 17 and 18 points, respectively, and giving the Eagles the team title. Andrew Stowe (22nd - 28:03.59) and Brandon Santangelo (29th - 28:17.28) were the Eagle displacers on Saturday.
