DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team won two of three doubles and four of six singles matches to take a 5-2 win over Northwood (Mich.) Saturday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The win evens the Eagles' record at 5-5. Northwood drops to 2-7 with the loss.
The Eagles secured the doubles point with wins at the second and third positions.
Sabrina Ehrenfort and
Carla Cabero del Hierro were first off the court following their 6-1 defeat of Danijela Danilovic and S. M. Von Dusterlho at No. 2 and
Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo and
Kaylee Kirivong followed with a 6-2 win against Regan Fales and Savannah Matuszewski at No. 3 to put the Eagles up 1-0 heading into singles.
Playing at the fourth spot, Ehrenfort made quick work of her singles opponent, downing Von Dusterlho 6-1, 6-1 to put the Eagles up 2-0. ERAU's third point came from Cabero del Hierro at the second spot as she topped Rafella Fulop 6-2, 6-4 to make the team score 3-0.
The next two matches to finish were three-set battles. The first to finish was on court three with Wira Hadipoernomo scored the clincher with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 win over Danilovic. The match between Issler and Rafella Platsiota saw the Eagles' top-flight player rebound from a second-set loss to win 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
The Eagles' next match will be at 10 a.m. on Monday when they host Indiana (Pa.) at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
