DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry- Riddle Men's Tennis returned to the win column on Wednesday courtesy of a 6-1 defeat of Southern New Hampshire at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The 19th-ranked Eagles are now 7-1 at home and 8-7 overall, while the Penmen fall to 5-3.
The home team fell behind early as the Penmen won two of three doubles matches to claim the doubles point.
Playing at No. 2 singles, 46th-ranked
Michele Iftimie evened the team score with his 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Jesse Den Hartog.
Fernando Alonso also notched as straight-set (6-1, 6-4) win against Fernando Torres at No. 3, while
Alexis Guedy topped Jonathan Berling 6-3, 6-3 to increase the Eagle lead to 3-1.
The clincher came on court four where
Lukas Schneider battled Cade Nadeau to a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win.
Alvaro Diaz Rodrigo followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Aron Ouwejan and
Luke Paschal wrapped up the day's play by topping Philipp Roeder 6-2, 6-4.
The Eagles' next match will be at 11 a.m. on March 25 against St. Olaf at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
