DELAND, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's rowing team traveled up Interstate 4 and faced Stetson, Jacksonville and Drake at the DeLand Double Duals hosted by the Hatters on Saturday. All races were held on a 2,000-meter course at the Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center. Boats received assistance from a 10-to-12 mph tailwind with gusts reaching up to 18 mph.

First up was the Varsity 8 boat of Megan Byrne (coxswain), Shelby Ernst, Kendra Sander, Aria Moses, Sofia Lorenzini, Elise Dezotell, Alexandra Weilert, Soleil Edwards, and Helena Schmidt. The Eagle-powered shell placed third with a season-best time of 7:05.1, 25.2 seconds faster than Drake, but behind Jacksonville (6:50.2) and Stetson (6:56.0). The result ended the Blue and Gold's impressive nine-race winning streak that began back at Jacksonville on Oct. 29, 2022.

Then in Varsity 4, Alexis Mathis (coxswain), Alexandria Fife-Winslow, Kristen Vigna, Reagan Hurt, and Briella Goldenberg also grabbed a third-place finish behind a pair of Jacksonville boats (7:49.3 and 7:59.1). Embry-Riddle's time of 8:07.1 was 9.3 seconds ahead of Stetson and 1:06.2 better than Drake.

Next up for the Eagles is the program's first-ever home dual against Barry on March 25. All races will be held on the waters of the Halifax River near ERAU's boat house at the Halifax Rowing Association (201 City Island Pkwy., Daytona Beach, FL). The start time is still to be determined.
